Maybe yes, Maybe no.: To be classified as a major depressive episode, a # of criteria must be met ; the sxs must last for at least a week. In the meantime, there are many things you can do to help your depression. Don't isolate. Spend time w people. Having a support system is very important. Get out. Don’t allow yourself to stagnate at home. Work to get at least 8 hrs sleep per night ; eat as healthfully as possible.

Yes it can.: It would be worth while to talk with your primary care provider, a psychiatrist or other mental health provider as this can be the start of a major depressive episode.
