A member asked:

Just found out i'm pregnant through a hpt i'm also a smoker... is it ok for me to gradually stop smoking on my own or should i go cold turkey?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

any of the above: Gradual or non-gradual stopping are both quitting on your own - technically 'cold turkey'. Most important is to have a plan, and then consider options if you're not successful. Your success is highest with best treatments available. That means coaching, calling 1-800-quit now, plus medications to help with cravings. Being pregnant, try no meds. But smoking has more risk than nicotine patch or gum.
