Blood or not?: As hamlet said, "that is the question". Not all red is blood and not all blood is red so the first thing to determine is if there is blood in the stool. Pepto may turn your stool black and dyes can change the color of your stool. Blood could be the result of bacterial enteritis or less concerning things like irritation, fissures, hemorrhoids, etc.
