Infection or DVT: Dvt or deep venous thrombosis is a clot in veins that can lead to swelling, pain and increased temperature but so can infection which is probably more likely if a laceration occurred. Either problem is a reason to seek immediate medical attention. Dvt can lead to a pulmonary embolism which can be lethal.
