Tough, but possible: To contract a herpes infection, you need a variety if conditions to be met. Agent: the viral particles need to be on the area contacted. Volume: enough viral particles. Susceptible host: the virus needs a portal of every (cut, chapped lip), an immune system ready for infection. Since ~60% are already infected, those conditions happen frequently. Though not usually from a peck on the cheek.
