I have an infection i would rather save the tooth & have a root cannal than remove it?

Then try to save it: If a dentist determines that it is fixable then do it. If it is questionable or it needs to be removed there are good options to replace it. It would recommend an implant above all others, but a bridge is a good option in some cases as well. Talk to your dentist for treatment options.
