Not sure of your ?: But it sounds like you are asking if the fractured root caused infections? That depends upon where the infections were. It's hard to answer questions such as these over the internet without a clinical exam and x-rays. If in other places in your body? Extremely unlikely! if in other places in your mouth? No. If locally around that tooth? Possibly.

Possibly: A fractured tooth will allow saliva and bacteria to seep under the gumline into the bone, causing pain and eventually an infection. Can't tell if this was the reason why you had a problem, but now that the tooth is out, i hope you're feeling better...
