depends: Mold, especially alternaria has been associated with severe and life threatening asthma. Asthma control can be achieved through avoidance measures, medication and immunotherapy (allergy shots). Oral steroids can improve asthma within a couple of days, but side effects possible. Recovery depends on aggressiveness in treating underlying inflammation of asthma.
