Sincalide / CCK: If you are feeling cramping during a hida scan, it is likely that you were given Kinevac / sincalide / cck. This substance is used to cause gallbladder contraction which can cause cramping. Reasons for administering cck include prolonged fasting (>24 hrs.) by the patient prior to hida. In addition, cck can be used to determine a gallbladder ejection fraction.

several causes: Cck causes gall bladder to contract and sometimes cause pain and cramping. However patients with irritable bowel syndrome can also get cramping from cck which stimulates peristalsis of bowel. Speed of injection of cck can also cause pain. It should be usually injected slowly over thirty minutes.
