Why are my thighs burning when i do stairs. i walk and do stretches foe exercise and normally don't feel this way?

Go see your Dr : And get checked for nerve inflammation, pinched nerve, diabetes etc.You mentioned high pitched breathing which could be a sign of asthma, bronchitis or emphysema. Take care!

A lot more work: It is a good sign that you feel a burn in your thighs when you go up stairs. That means you are pushing your legs to the point where they are crying for more energy and oxygen. That process is what turns on muscle building and improved metabolism. To go up stairs is like lifting your body weight 8" for every step. That is = to picking up 45 gallons of milk from the floor to the counter!

Conditioning: Burning muscles usually happen from lack of blood or fitness. You might want to see a podiatrist or even your primary doctor to have your lower extremity pulses checked. If these are normal, it may be as simple as poor conditioning. Climbing stairs taxes the quadriceps much more than walking on level ground. Spinal nerve impingement can also cause pain, but it usually isn't described as burning.
