Ketones : Ketones are produced when your body uses fat for energy instead of glucose. This can happen when you do not have enough insulin. Insulin pulls glucose from your blood into your cells to use it for energy. If you do not have enough insulin, your glucose can build up in your blood. Since your body can not use the glucose for energy, it breaks down fat instead and produces ketones.
