when can i start covering my baby with a blanket at night?

A year: This should be avoided until the baby has the physical ability to stand up and move in a coordinated fashion about their sleeping areas. Infants that cannot control their body enough to do so are at risk of smothering/suffocating if movement during sleep wraps the blanket around them.
