Do you have pain?: The size of a gallstone does not impact the decision regarding gallbladder surgery. Up to 75% of people with stones have no symptoms and may safely avoid surgery. Surgery is reserved for those who have symptoms, typically right-upper or upper-midline pain, most commonly after eating fried/fatty foods.
