A member asked:

Is hyperintensity on t1 w/ microadenoma mri (untreated as of yet w/meds) normal to find? will cabergoline help clear up?does it always mean apoplexy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not normal: Since a microadenoma is not normal. Cabergoline may be useful if the adenoma is a prolactinoma, hypersecreting prolactin. Apoplexy is a clinical diagnosis, not made on mri. It is caused by hemorrhage damaging the pituitary.
