Mri of my eye after optic nerve stroke- focal thickening is slightly t1 hyperintense. what does that mean?

MRI : I would be concerned that this was resultant from either ischemia from carotid stenosis embolism or also possible...Optic neuritis... I was seen an eye doctor for a dilated exam to distinguish.
