Well balanced diet: If you eat a well balanced diet, you may only need a multi-vitamin, if any supplement. Many postmenopausal women need extra vit d so have that checked with your next blood test.

It depends...: This depends on your diet ; health goals. While it's ideal to get essential nutrients from our diet, virtually all americans do not get adequate vitamins ; minerals from diet; even the ama advises everyone to take a multivitamin- see http://bit.Ly/1b36cq0 for comparison of 101 brands-any in the top 40 are good. Most people need 5-8000 iu of d in fall ; winter for optimal d levels-cont. In comment:.

Since you live in Fla. you may need less D depending on how much sun you get. I believe it's wise for everyone to take at least 1000 mg of Vit. C 2x/day. Almost everyone can benefit from a herbal tonic such as Ashwagandha, Rhodiola or Eleuthero. Many of the most important nutrients come from foods so for optimal health consider a superfood powder such as ORAC Energy Greens from Parasdise Herbs.
