Left atrial enlargem: Left atrial enlargement can have many causes and if verified on echo or other imaging study can presage various rhythm disturbances. Other problems may relate to the cause of the left atrial enlargement.

LA enlargement : La enlargement is likely due to one of several causes including high blood pressure, valve disease or other structural heart problems. This could be related to the first degree heart block since if the atria is big then it may take longer to conduct from the atria to the ventricle. The best way to evaluate la or left atrial size is by an ultrasound or echocardiogram of the heart.
