Possibly TMJ: Clicking or popping of the jaw joint is a sign of TMJ syndrome. It usually means that the cartilage between the jaw joint and the base of the skull is either dislocated or damaged. You should see your dentist to have it evaluated.

TMJ disk: Displaced disk in jaw joint. Having popping or clicking noises in the TMJ is not necessarily a problem. Many people experience these noises. As long as you do not have any pain or limitation of function the noise itself is not an issue. If you have these other symptoms, see a TMJ expert for guidance.
