Viral infection?: It is possible to have strept throat without a fever, other symptoms will be present- you will likely feel malaise and the back of your mouth will be extremely sore/tender and beefy red. Your doctor can test for strept throat, and treat it with an antibiotic like penicillin. Most sore throats without a fever however, are caused by viruses- and will not respond to antibiotics.
