pharmacologic stress: Often we use other agents but Persantine is injected and the patient is either imaged soon after or after a little exercise, after the Persantine administration, sestamibi is injected to allow the imaging.

See below.: This is a chemical stress test of blood flow to the heart muscle. It is used to evaluate patients who are unable to exercise. Pictures of blood flow are obtained before and after the stress. Post stress abnormalities may indicate narrowings of the coronary arteries which impede blood flow and may be a cause of chest pain. Abnormalities of flow before stress may indicate previous damage.
