No: Known to occur , will heal and reopens slightly for few wks and closes completely  ( Heals ) . Keep area clean ally dry dressing and go for post op evaluation to your surgeon. Don't worry

Sometimes the abscess is just opened and allowed to heal, but with recurrent episodes, the entire cyst is excised.  Usually the wound is not stitched closed but is allowed to heal from the inside out, or with "secondary intention."

If it is just : Drainage, it is not so bad.  If this is definitive excision for a recurrent abscess, it can take a few weeks to two months to heal.  But surgery is only on skin and subcutaneous tissue and does not involve internal organs, so it is not a dangerous operation.  Ask your surgeon for details.
