Need to see a Hand -: Surgeon as 1 yr old injury of scapholunate lig. Will most likely not be helped by physio. 
Most likely you'll need scope surgery to repair or augment the ligament.

wrist sprain six months ago. leant backward on hand holding my son.clear x-ray day of injury. pain still and wrist weak. could it be scaphoid fracture?

Wrist injury : You need a follow up visit as sometimes a fracture may not show up on the first X-ray

i just got x-rays on my wrist from a 7wk injury and the ortho saw a cyst on my scaphoid bone but cant tell whether or not it is a fracture. ill be getting an mri to tell for sure. im a little worried about a non union. what could the cyst mean?

: Bone cyst may cause pathologic fracture (spontaneous bone fracture without injury or just a slight injury). I do not know how heavy your injury was. MRI is likely done to make sure you do not have a pathologic fracture due to that cyst because the treatment will be different. Leave the cyst alone if no fracture or surgery to pack the cyst to promote healing if you do have pathologic fracture.

Not related at 16yrs: The carpal tunnel issues and the scaphoid fracture were 16 years apart and are completely unrelated.

are bone&muscles on human hands symmetric or asymmetric?a small shell fell off&hurt the back of my right hand.notice the scaphoid,capitate,or radius bone on rt hand more protruding than my left hand.is it due to the injury or the existing structrure?

Asymmetry: We are all slight asymmetric. For example, most right handed women have a larger right hand, a larger left breast, and take a longer stride with the right leg. Unless a severe injury caused a fracture or dislocation, the asymmetry was pre-existing.

if i have a scaphoid fracture that has gone untreated for more than 6 months, will that show up on an x-ray? i had an injury on my hand last summer, initial x-ray and mri showed nothing other than sprained scapholunate ligament with post-traumatic synovit

Accepted Answer

An : An xray likely would show a fracture if it occurred 6 months ago and did not heal. However an MRI would likely have also showed a fracture at the time of injury, so a negative MRI 6 months ago means you likely did not have a fracture.

A sprained scapholunate ligament could lead to problems that can have pain as a later finding. Pain at the base of the thumb may be to another issue that is not related to the scaphoid or the ligmanets that surround it. A common cause for pain a the base of the thumb is midd arthritis.

If you ask your doctor i'm sure they would repeat an x-ray, but finding a fracture would be very unusual at this time given the history is correct.

See Hand Surgeon: Fractures of the scaphoid and lead to significant and severe wrist problems.  Prompt and appropriate treatment is essential to prevent late complications.  I strongly suggest that you see a hand surgeon in your area as soon as possible.

my scaphoid hurts. i can't bend my wrist upwards and when i touch it, a sharp pain arrises. did i break it?

More info: The most common scaphoid injury is a LIGAMENT pull or sprain (small tear)  Fracture is less common and a good deal of swelling and bruising would be seen
REST..ICE ELEVATE and Ibuprofen may help. Xray is next step

i learned that it would have been possible for me to receive a total scaphoid titanium replacement instead of a four corner wrist fusion (06/20). this would have saved more of my mobility. i was wondering if the operation could be reversed?

: No once the four bones are fused you can't reverse it. I am not an advocate of scaphoid prosthesis and the procedure you had performed is the gold standard and very reliable with a long history of success

First while your : Understanding of anatomy may lead you to the right location and the names of the bones there . There  can be tendinitis. Fracture. Sprain . Ligament injury  contusion overuse , joint swelling  skin issues , really anything in that area.
