This : This condition is typically called "black, hairy tongue".  Some of the causes include antibiotic use, smoking, poor oral hygiene, and drinking coffee. Avoid salt: There is no easy answer here, could this be an allergic reaction?  Hard to say.  The salt could cause a histimine release and cause the tongue to swell.  I would stay away from processed foods and switch to a low salt more natural diet.

Can be normal: Black dots on a baby's tongue would most likely be due to some increased pigmentation. This can be considered normal and is usually found more commonly in darker-skinned individuals. It also can be considered hereditary. However, you should probably mention it to your pediatrician next time you have a visit, or if the baby seems bothered by it, have it checked out sooner.
