Knee arthritis: Knee arthritis certainly runs in families. The 2 main types of arthritis are osteoarthritis (wearing of the joint) and inflammatory arthritis (multiple painful, swollen joints with deformity). If both knees swell and become red in 5 minutes, you should be tested for rheumatoid arthritis. Additionally, knee xrays are needed. These tests will determine if, and what type of arthritis you may have

This may be  part  of the reason but there is itching also  need to consider some other  diagnoses. People can even itch with water, or it could be a reaction to your soap.  Itching can suggest a more systemic  medical  problem so you need to discuss this  with your physician

i've had many leg tests, right lower leg has narrowing, my toes turn ,red,purple,then black, my right leg below the knee swells twice the size of the left leg and is hot, its painful to walk and sit, no one will help me!! what should i do?

: This sounds like a primary vascular problem and the swellilng suggests some sort of venous blockage. What type of leg test did you have and what were the results? You might also have some element of arterial disease though that seems unlikely in a person your age unless you have a history of diabetes or premature atherosclerosis. A vascular surgeon would be the most appropriate specialist to see.

Thyroid: I would look for a thyroid problem. That would be a condition that would result in your symptoms. Check into a book called Hypothryoid the Unsuspected Illness by Dr Broda Barnes. Older book, but good source to read and I think it will help you look to what to explore to resolve your issue.

Inflammation: Usually when there is inflammation - whether it's from an infection, or injury or other process - causes redness and warmth, related to chemical released.  You should have a doctor evaluate this to get a better sense of what's causing it and, more urgently, if you are having fevers or significant pain.  Best of luck.
