Inflammation: Usually when there is inflammation - whether it's from an infection, or injury or other process - causes redness and warmth, related to chemical released. You should have a doctor evaluate this to get a better sense of what's causing it and, more urgently, if you are having fevers or significant pain. Best of luck.
