Possibly: It is possible that the front of your shoe is too narrow for your forfeit and that may cause the symptoms you are describing.  One way to check this is to trace the outline of your foot on a piece of paper and then lay your shoe over it and compare the widths.  Pronation of the foot can also cause similar symptoms and there are "antipronation" running shoes as well.  Consider being seen.

Incurvated toenails: Sounds like you might have incurvated nails incurvated nails curve into the skin on the sides and can cause discomfort. See your doctor.

Many things: Unfortunately, without a better description this could be many things.  But classically things doctors think of that cause toe pain, are fractures(if you traumatized it) or gout/pseudogout(crystal problems that affect joints), even infections or non-infectious inflammation(like synovitis).  You will get better answers if you are able to provide a bit more info.  Best of luck.

Removal, antibiotics: It sounds like you have an ingrown nail, and if it's infected, you'll likely need antibiotics, possibly a nail procedure. Just the painful border can be removed, or the entire nail if necessary (you're numbed up for this, don't worry!). While waiting to see your doctor, soak the toe 10 min/day in luke warm water and epsom salts, use a small amount of antibiotic ointment, and cover with a bandaid.

Well....: What did you fracture? The end bone in the big toe may have been injured. We're x-rays taken ? You may just have an ingrown nail

It : It sounds like he had some sort of procedure for a toenail on 2 toes, if i'm reading your question correctly (help us help you by using punctuation).  If this is correct, bleeding is normal, and they should have warned you about it.  But now, at 2 days, there shouldn't be any new blood.  If he's currently bleeding, then my answer is yes, take him back to the er.  If it's old, dry blood on the bandage, there is no need to panic.  But i assume you have a follow-up appointment to check on this in the next few days, right?
