Colonoscopy: Any abnormality identified during colonoscopy should be sampled and submitted for pathologic evaluation.

Colonoscopy: It's not unusual to have mild discomfort shortly after colonoscopy. This is not due to the biopsies, but to residual air left behind after the procedure. If you have severe pain or persistent tenderness in your abdomen, call your Gastroneurologist immediately. Vitamin K and MVI's will not help the biopsy sites heal any faster. They do not cause pain and will heal just fine on their own. Good luck.

Depends.: Depends on what they biopsied.  Did they biopsy a "suspicious" area?  Diverticuli are common findings on colonoscopy and generally do not cause any symptoms.  Generally they do not need to be biopsied.

Yes: If your doctor takes a biopsy in the course of your colonoscopy, then he/she will definitely tell you that they did so. They should have those pathology results back to you within 6-7 days.  If you're worried, just call your doctor.

Wait for histology: It can be anything from a little harmless hyperplasttuc polyp to a deadly cancer that may or may not be curable on resection. Location means basically nothing.

Need more info: Why was a colonoscopy done at age 21? What were your symptoms? Biopsies are not normally part of this procedure. However, at age 21 there were likely reasons to biopsy if colitis was suspected

Forerunner: Of worse to come unless the dietary cause is eliminated. I have always stopped my patients from taking milk and milk products when they have ulcerative colitis. Try it! its cheap. Also check out your diet in general. Apart from milk, restrict it to "god made" foods.

i had a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy yesterday. a biopsy was taken during the colonoscopy. so i know its normal to see blood in your stool.

ive seen dark and bright blood now and i just passed a black tarry like stool. is this normal?

No: A simple colon biopsy should not result in the amount of blood loss you described. It would be prudent to contact your doctor.

when polyps are found during colonoscopy that are 2-3 cm in size why would a doctor leave them instead of taking a biopsy?

Colonoscopy: Biopsies are usually only taken of any polyps that dont look normal. Polyps of that tiny size are unlikely to be a problem and to a trained eye, the risk of taking the biopsy probably higher than the risk of possible malignancy! I am sure you were told to have a follow up colonoscopy in 6 mos to 1 year.
