Two problems: 1. Canker sores are the most common oral lesions. Individual ulcers typically last 7-10 days or less. The condition is idiopathic recurrent aphthous ulcers is usually self-limiting. 
2.  Swollen gums can be a sign that you are at risk for, or already have, gum disease. See a dentist for evaluation and treatment. Rec.:  see a dentist for evaluation, imaging  and treatment.

Yes: There are several causes of  a white sore tongue.  The only way to get a diagnosis and proper treatment is to see a dentist for a exam.  The sooner you see a dentist the sooner your  problem can be treated.

i have had a sore swollen white tongue for weeks and blood test showed low b12 (223) . i have had a week on b12 vitamins but still getting burning tongue pain, when should i see relief?  is this normal or could it be something else?

May need injection: B 12 oral tablets/suspension is not as effective or rapid treatment as B 12 in an inject-able form. It is not well absorbed by some into their blood especially if they have gut problems or are deficient in the needed co-factor. You may need that boost to get over symptoms.Check with your doc.

Antibiotics given?: Where you given antibiotics during your time in the hospital? That might explain the white tongue - thrush (a type of yeast that overgrows once bacteria are wiped out). Or the white tongue could be dehydration because postoperative nausea &amp; vomiting has kept down fluid intake.
