Have It Checked: Could be a small growth, probably benign, or possibly the result of trauma. See your pediatrician.

how come i get cotton mouth and stringy spit when i work out?

Accepted Answer

Not Enough Water: When you workout, your body overheats and cools itself by sweating.  This causes your body to lose water very quickly which causes your saliva to thicken.  Make sure between reps to drink water in order to replenish what you lose.  This will help with 'cotton mouth' and the stringy spit.

my son has green mucusy, stringy stool. he has a rash around his mouth, on arms and legs. what can be the cause?

Accepted Answer

There are: a number of possibilities most of which are VIRAL and the Summer months have a number of ECHO and COXSACKIE viruses which have a rash and GI component!!! You can treat "symptomatically' (Fluids and non-spicy foods) but "check in" with your child's Pediatrician who will know "what's going around" in your community!    Hope this helps and good luck!

Thick saliva: Is that a recent situation or you have been going through this situation for a while? Have you ever been diagnosed with sleep apnea ? And if it is something recent are you getting over a cold or throat infection? Excessive viscous mucus could accompany disorders of the breathing passages or respiratory tract disorders.

i am quitting dip after trying it last week. i realized i had two white dots under my bottom teeth. it is now stringy white. i scraped it off. could it be cancer?

Cancer?  : Probably not cancer, but a good scare to get you to stop that bad habit early, before real problems develop.
If it was only a few times, your cells would probably not be that affected, except the white is probably tissue that is sloughing off, not pleasant and can be sore.
Soft, non-spicy diet for next week and see a dentist for an evaluation.

Bumps on tongue: Painful lesions tend to be viruses  or tend to be inflammatory in nature.  They typically occur on different parts of the tongue sporadically.  You may also have some hormonal changes that cause these lesions.  I do not think there is one pill you can take to make this go away.  When you get the red areas that hurt you can try an antifungal like famvir (famciclovir) or acyclovir.

i gargled with betadine recently, and i get dark redish stringy stuff when i spit, it doesn't happen with hot water or any other liquid, can i know y?

Not sure : The betadine may be mixing with the saliva and can look brown/red.  As awful as this sounds sometimes a picture of the saliva can be helpful as can a doctor examination of the mouth and throat to look for ulcers and other inflammatory conditions

Vomiting tobacco: I would be concerned that this may be blood in your vomit causing it to look like tobacco, or coffee grinds. Have you been having upper abdominal pains? Dark stools? Do you have gastritis or been feeling ill prior to this?

If it continues, see a doctor for some blood work and an exam of the abdomen.

Mucus: It appears that there was a mucus plug impacted on your uvula and irritation/inflammation occurred when it was pulled off.  If bleeding and/nonhealing of the uvula persists, consult an otolaryngologist for treatment and in the meantime, bathe the uvula area with cold water  which helps.However if brisk bleeding continues head to the hospital emergency room where urgent treatment can be given

Some possibilities: Stringy saliva might be related to dehydration or side effects of certain medications.  Consider these possibilities and see your own dentist for a thorough dental examination.  This might also warrant an exam by your physician to rule out other medical possibilities.
