A member asked:

Red bumps on the tip of my tongue that are painful and that have a thin white stringy layer over them, what could this be, please help?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Bumps on tongue: Painful lesions tend to be viruses or tend to be inflammatory in nature. They typically occur on different parts of the tongue sporadically. You may also have some hormonal changes that cause these lesions. I do not think there is one pill you can take to make this go away. When you get the red areas that hurt you can try an antifungal like famvir (famciclovir) or acyclovir.
