See below: The brain is composed of white and gray matters. Gray matter is where the higher brain functions take place and the white matter usually transmits those functions. I believe you're refering to white matter changes seen on MRI or ct. These are nonspecific & may be seen with chronic small vessel changes from diabetes or hypertension or from multiple sclerosis or other problems.

Need exact wording: Everybody's brain has white matter ; tg since it is the necessary stuff to transmit signals from one part of the brain to another or the spinal cord or cranial nerves.  I suspect the radiology report said something like, "white matter changes, diffusely seen, etc. Etc."  it is likely not significant to the reason they got the scanbut your doctor will know best. Ask for an interpretation.

Nerve cell bodies are "gray matter." white matter is below the brain's surface layer, and can be followed all the way down the spinal cord. Strokes can injure these areas; some people have cognitive changes as well as physical symptoms afterwards.

Prevention of future tia's or stokes include medication to help thin your blood, keeping regular doctor appointments to assure your blood pressure and cholesterol levels are managed well, as well as overall staying healthy with dieting and exercise to prevent conditions like diabetes, etc.  Best wishes.

Maybe??: Tv does not cause brain damage, but far easier to sit comfortably and vegetate, and may be relaxing after stressful day.  But many folks have stopped reading and learning, and even become more reclusive due to habitual tv watching.  With the variety of cable activities, not hard to get into pattern.  However, some evidence that chronic tv does lead to deconditioning, and weight gain.
