what's the difference between the td and tdap shot? what's the booster that has to be given every  10 years? td or tdap? what if i get 2x within year?

Vaccine: The Tdap has tetanus, pertussis and diphtheria protection, but the Td has tetanus and diphtheria protection only. Tetanus and diphtheria boosters are recommended every 8-10 years ( overlap is ok) to prevent tetanus infections. Tdap is recommended  to decrease pertussis infection in the community, esp for new parents so they cannot pass pertussis to their children.

what would happen if the tdap vaccine was accidentally given in a blood vessel? had shot two days ago - would i be sick by now?

If anything did: It is hard to conceive of where in the shoulder you could find a blood vessel large enough to thread with a needle &amp; push in the shot. They are just not there to allow it. If you were allergic to any component of the vaccine, the bad ones start to show up within the hour.

had tdap shot a few days ago. side effects have subsided and arm is much less sore, but today my armpit is quite sore on the side the shot was given. cannot feel any lumps or swollen nodes. what is this?

: You know not to worry about it as well because it is likely to be transient. It is still possible there is inflammation in a reactive lymph node that you may not have palpated.

i was born in 1978. was i given the polio vaccine? also i didnt have the meningitis vax before college, should i get it? i had the tdap, mmr during my pregnancies. ive had covid vax and get the flu shot regularly. which vax if any should i get?

: If you were born in the US and followed routing preventive care guidelines you would have received several doses of the oral polio vaccine used during those years. The vulnerable period for meningitis is considered the teen and college years. While it would not hurt to get one, your age group is not considered at risk. For now, you should be okay. When older, consider the Prevnar and Shingrix

is the tdap shot safe for people over 65?

: I had my nurse give me the adult preparation the TdaP when I was older than that. The DTAP is the infant preparation. They are for the same thing but the infant preparation can cause some side effects in adults. This is a technical difference but important to be accurate.

TETANUS PROPHYLAXIS:: If you got a dirty wound / got cut by something rusty, better get a td or tdap.
Normally tdap boostering is needed every 10 years.

: I can find no reason from what you posted to link a Tdap shot in 2021 to one in 2006 as a reason or any pain issue. Please have your doctor evaluate you for whatever symptoms you are experiencing.

got a tdap shot today. nurse said i only received td in 2004. i believe i may have also received one in 2008 that was not on my record. what could happen if i got tdap twice?

No problem: If anything, your system will benefit from the booster effect of the components of the vaccine. These vaccines are benign.Unless you develop a specific sensitivity to a component (tetanus toxoid for some) doing them this often has no negative effects, .
