I had my nurse give me the adult preparation the TdaP when I was older than that. The DTAP is the infant preparation. They are for the same thing but the infant preparation can cause some side effects in adults. This is a technical difference but important to be accurate.

Yes, it is, and should be given every 10 years (or sometimes sooner if it has been over 5 years and there is any injury) for everyone. If someone is not up to date on their TdaP and they are about to become a grandparent (don't know if that's part of why you're asking), a TdaP will definitely be recommended before seeing the newborn.
