Had tdap shot a few days ago. side effects have subsided and arm is much less sore, but today my armpit is quite sore on the side the shot was given. cannot feel any lumps or swollen nodes. what is this?

You know not to worry about it as well because it is likely to be transient. It is still possible there is inflammation in a reactive lymph node that you may not have palpated.

Not unusual after immunization. Warm shower, stretching, and some acetaminophen or ibuprofen can be helpful. Should be better in a few days.
