Xray: Hand injuries occurring in young children should be evaluated by an imaging test. Even in the image is negative, follow up with your PCP who will determine if further consultation with a specialist is required. 
In the meantime, ice, rest and a splint/dressing will help to immobilize the fingers. Tape the adjacent finger to the injured finger with adhesive medical tape and please see your PCP.

If you mean a nerve root coming from the spinal cord, then many things can cause the pinch such a bulging vertebral disc, bonny overgrowth, spinal stenosis, etc.. It's important to get an exam and an MRI. Depending on the severity you may get medications like NSAIDS (advil), steroids, gabapentin or antidepressants. You could also need surgery.
