Thyroid surgery: There are many lumps in your throat, most of which are normal structures.  Thyroid surgery will only remove the thyroid.  Talk to you doctor about exactly what you are feeling, because it is possible that your symptoms are not related to thyroid.

There will be: a NORMAL "thickening" at the site of your surgery for several months after the procedure! In addition any fatigue you had prior to the surgery I assume will respond to thyroid replacement (if indicated) or a little "tincture of time"!

my sis, had total thyroidectomy in 2012 due to papillary thyroid ca, she feels a lump on her neck, tg and scan were normal, what could it be?

Show it to her docto: After surgery for cancer, one needs to have follow up visits with the doctor who did the operation. The doctor can examine her and let you/her know what it is that she is feeling. If the surgeon is not available, she can go see any doctor like an internist or an endocrinologist whom she saw in the beginning of 2012(before surgery was done).

It's your call: Unless there's some reason to doubt the fine needle biopsy results, or the mass is uncomfortable or unsightly, you're welcome to leave it in.

How soon?: For the first month or two after thyroid surgery you can have "inflammation and scar tissue"  leading to the area feeling "lumpy".  You can also have lymph nodes which will react to the surgery.  If the area is red warm and tender it might be an infection. You should bring it to the attention of your surgeon.  If it has been years since your surgery... Get an appointment to be seen for follow-up.

i have a damaged vocal cord due to thyroidectomy, lately i  noticed an internal lump above collar bone left to the neck, could it be related?

Perhaps, if: your thyroidictomy was performed for cancer, it could be recurrence in lymph node.  Otherwise, lump is probably not directly related to nerve damage.  Ask  your surgeon for further advice.

i have a question i have these lumps on my neck from my previous surgery my doctor thinks there muscle knots can they be seen on a mri ?

Yes: MRI has great resolution for muscle, but it'd be a VERY expensive test to just diagnose some muscle knots. There may be more serious things that an MRI can pick up, i.e. enlarged lymph nodes in your neck, but this would be unlikely unless you were also having fevers, fatigue, night sweats, or some sign of infection. Try warm compresses and a massage to see if they'll go away.

Doctor can evaluate: In a patient in her late 60's, many problems can cause such symptoms. Some are minor problems, others are bad. No way to guess, so the thing to do is to see one's primary care doctor, who can refer to specialists if more testing or evaluation is needed. The doctors will likely be making sure there is not a cancer recurrence, during their evaluation.

Reflux : Sounds like reflux that must be pretty bad if causing you to have problems swallowing. You need to be seen by your doctor for this.

i had thyroid surgery about 5 years ago and started back smokinh recently but i feel a lump in my throat when smoking. should i be concerned?

Absolutely yes: You did it once: do it again. QUIT SMOKING. Whatever it takes. Go to hypnosis every day for 2 weeks. A Dr may help you.
