my dad is 90 and is on plavix, xarelto and aspirin daily due to history of tia's and afib. he needs a tooth extracted. he is not sure if it's safer to go off these meds for a few days or stay on them and endure the bleeding?

: This is a decision your father cannot make. His dentist should consult with the prescribing physician to determine if it is safe for him to stop the meds. If not, then an oral surgeon should be consulted for the extraction.

my 90 year old dad needs a tooth extracted and his dr told him stop xarelto, plavix and aspirin 5 days before and start lovenox shots. these lovenox shots can be taken while having the extraction? these shots won't increase bleeding?

: The Lovenox  is an anticoagulant and if recommended by doctor than it is safe. Consult with your surgeon as to protocol of shots.

Alcohol, aspirin: You can have a drink while on a blood thinner, but there are some important cautions...1) only moderately, as these medications are metabolized by the liver and alcohol could affect their metabolism, 2) getting intoxicated while on a blood thinner and injuring oneself would be very dangerous, 3) the medication should never be consumed with the alcohol, as this could dangerously affect absorption.

is rivaroxaban xalerto safe and good drug for preventing stroke in afib compared to aspirin and plavix (clopidogrel) together in72 yr man with hypertension,s.cr1.56?

Xalerto is best: His CHA2DS2-VASc score is  2 (age and presence of hypertension). All studies have concluded that the benefit from anticoagulation significantly exceeds the risks for almost all AF patients with a score of 2 or more. Xalerto will more effectively reduce his risk of stroke and won't increase his risk of bleeding.

in my cabg, my doctor also do ligation laa and raa, so how many dose i must taken rivaroxaban and clopidogrel with out taking aspirin and warfarin ?

Depends: was afib only post CABG or did you have before surgery? But usually would cont cont anti coagulation (rivaroxiban, dabigatran, epixiban, or Coumadin) 4-6 weeks post ligation.  Anti platelet therapy (aspirin or plavix) depends on other health conditions.

can i take niacin in the morning with aspirin to ease the flush discomfort? i take xarelto at night. or can i take xarelto in the morning?

Aspirin can decrease: Flushing as does taking it with apple sauce.  Xarelto must be taken with dinner otherwise it loses 40% of bioavailability

: Not sure that a dentist would feel comfortable with bleeding issues if your Dad's medication is not put on hold for a few days.  This needs a joint discussion with the dentist and his internist, and a concerted decision be reached.

take 1 20 mg xarelto for a-fib, advised not to take 1 aleve (naproxen) nightly for anti-inflammatory help. aleve (naproxen) is not aspirin/antiplatelet so why?

Anti-platelet: Aleve (naproxen) has anti-platelet effects similar to that of aspirin.
