Yes: It sounds fine. If you can keep up in sports with your peers, your heart's probably fine.

Rapid rate: A resting heart rate of 90 is abnormal for a healthy adult. This can occur with fever, overactive thyroid, use of stimulants like caffeine,alcohol,nicotine, anxiety, anemia or cardiac abnormalities. I recommend a thorough examination by a physician who will also order appropriate tests like an EKG  as well as blood tests.

174-180 give or take heart beats per minute for 18 year old male after jogging 25 mins? normal?

Possibly.: If an 18 yr old male jogged relatively fast or uphill, the heart rate might reach the 174-180/min range during the exertion; however, it would be expected to come down fairly quickly upon slowing  ones pace.  Actually, the more one becomes conditioned to exercise, the lower the heart rate response to a given amount of exercise workload.

Too fast: If it is always that fast, you need to drop the caffeine / stimulants / antihistamines (including energy drinks). If your heart rate remains >100 whenever you check it (should only take 2-3 days to notice a change), then you should see your dr or a primary care dr for history, exam, ekg & bloodwork to see what is going on.

Normal: Those vital signs are still within the range of normal for an 18 year old

currently taking metoprolol 25mg for high hr. i monitor my bp religiously. a week ago i took 3 measurements over about 10 min and the monitor showed irregular heart beat symbol 3 times. then happened once a week later. 39yr male is this normal?

: I would neglect those findings if you are asymptomatic and you had had a thorough cardiac evaluation for tachycardia before metoprolol was preceribed. Take care.

had hiccups lasting less under 5 mins, during which rt ear first made a tone, felt full then there was a pounding/heart beat sound for 1-2 mins. have gotten ear thing in past but rarely 1-2 year. worry some? is it pulsatile tinnitus? normal bp 105/65?

: It could have been transient pulsatile tinnitus, but ear drums can occasionally twitch just as a skeletal muscle does. Unless you have frequent and more longlasting episodes,I wouldn't go for a check on this at this time.

sometimes my heart beats 109-112 per min. saw cardiologist did ekg and 24 hr holter monitor. everything came back normal. no thyroid problems, no hbp, no diabetes or overweight, not pregnant, no drugs or alcohol. no pain, sob, fainting etc. am i ok?

: It is normal for the heart to go up that way if you are are doing any of a number of things. I would count heart rate  your self rather than relying on an electronic device. Count pulse at wrist and count for a full 60sec would keep a diary to see if you can identify what might be increasing heart rate: heat, smoking, exercise, eating etc. Then discuss with Dr again and share your diary.

Adults: 60 to 80 bpm.  Although very fit individuals  frequently have heart rates in the 50s or even 49s.

how normal is it to have skipped heart beats?

Accepted Answer

Very: Everybody gets these.  More than five per minute when you're limiting your caffeine intake, or if the come in runs, cause chest pain, shortness of breath, or make you faint requires a physician's office visit at least.
