does the right side of the brain control the left eye?

Accepted Answer

Not quite: While most muscular functions cross over in this way including the eye muscles,  the left side of the visual part of the brain controls the right 1/2 of each eye and the right side of the visual cortex controls the left 1/2 of each eye.  Actually it doesn't control it but receives input from these parts of the eye.

what does your left side of the brain control? if there was some sort of  problem there, what if any signs would you notice first?

Usual dominant: Hemisphere in right handers and many left handers.  If so, problem could cause problems with speech expression and reception, but might cause right sided weakness, numbness, and even incoordination in the hand.  Focal lesions may result in headaches and seizures.

hi,i am having pain on the top of right side of brain at a particular point from 3days,it stays for 5sec & goes away.its a sharp pain.wats the reason?

Not likely a reason: If the pain is there for 5 seconds and does not  return for more than 30 minutes, then most likely there will not be a medical diagnosis.  Recall almost everyone has headaches. Less than 1% of these patients have an anatomic reason (such as tumor or aneurysm) for their headache. If you have this pain recurring every 5 minutes or less you should consult a doctor for exam and diagnostic evaluation.

i have a cavity/ hole on one of my molars on the upper right pof my mouth. im feeling it on the top right side of my brain. what could be wrong?

How about a cavity?: Sounds like you need evaluated by a dentist--could be a cavity, or recent abscess or lost filling. All of the above need seen by a dentist / dental clinic.

39 yr old. feels like gentle poke / ping on top right side of head for months. not headache; no brain tumor symptoms, but worried. my dr says stress?

Doubt tumor: head dyscomfort symptoms are like snow flakes.  Rarely do 2 people describe the same type of symptoms based on their perception.  You wont' find anything in the literature about a ping pong sensation in your head.  After 23 hears I have learned that unusual sensations like this that haven't been described in the literature mean nothing. Ping pong sensation can point to middle ear issue.

having a pinpoint sharp headache on top right side of head for 1 week. have dull pain on right side of head and back of right side of head and right forehead. pain in all instances comes and goes. had ct brain scan in november and was clear?

See neurologist: You need to be evaluated by a neurologist.  It could be musculoskeletal with referred pain frm the neck, but could also be something pressing in the brain, .  You might need MRI of brain.  Start with  neurologist.

i've been having tension type headaches for the past few days or so. it happens only at night and top/sides of the head. is this a brain tumor?

Highly unlikely: Your symptoms aren't at all the classical or common ones we hear from people who end up complaining of headaches which turn out to be associated with the growth of brain tumors. Headaches ONLY at night time for example &amp; ONLY on the top &amp; sides of the head (i.e. practically the whole head) &amp; without focal neurological complaints do not suggest tumor. Relax, see dr.: Brain tumors in your age group are not common. If the headache goes away with paracetamol and there are no neural symptoms like confusion, weakness, numbness, double vision, the headache is worse in the afternoon, and no nausea and vomiting, you can relax. Make an appointment with your doctor for a neurological exam and ask if you may need other tests done.Sometimes sertralene can cause headaches.

i have a lymph mode 2.25cm sitting on top of right side main artery to brain in neck. it's very soft and i can push it up and down is this normal?

Evaluate: All nodules or swelling that could be considered lymph node enlargement should be evaluated by your healthcare provider for further recommendations. Sometimes they are monitored over time and sometimes an ultrasound can be performed to evaluate. Regardless of size or location, you should be seen for further recommendations.
