YES: Babies below 2 years develop bronchiolitis cause by RSV which will eventually  become  asthma. Wheezing responds to  albuterol mist or nebulizer.

See a doctor: Aspelone (prednisolone) is only available by prescription in the united states and for good reason. This is a powerful steroid and if used incorrectly can be very dangerous for an infant. Prospan, at best will do nothing for your baby. There's no such thing as an expectorant (despite manufacturer claims) and pediatricians generally frown upon use of any OTC product in infants. Take baby to her doc

when my 8 month old infant exerts himself tiring movements then he has a wheezing sound to his breathing, it does not slow him down though.. he keeps going for long periods and the breath normalises almost as soon as he relaxes, is it normal?

Many conditions: Many conditions may cause this sound and infants may develop asthma at this age. 
Other causes include narrowing of the airway(s) or malformations which impinge on the airway. Choking and a foreign body lodged in the airway is another consideration.

Call his Peds Dr: Likely ok, if he has known wheeze source, but should talk w/his dr at least so is aware of what is going on. If new wheeze, should be checked out, particularly w/fever for cpl days.

Breathing treatments: Wheezing is a high-pitched noise that signals inflammation in your baby's lungs. This inflammation narrows the baby's airway. The noise is similar to when you blow air through a narrowed straw. Breathing treatments with medicines called bronchodilators can decrease the narrowing of the baby's airways. Sometimes, just suctioning the nose of your baby helps decrease wheezing and breathing distress.

Be seen: Humidifying the air is always a good idea for an infant that is congested as it will help you to clear the secretions.  But if the child is wheezing, they should be seen to determine if they need breathing treatments.

Mgt: It would be helpful to arrange a virtual appointment. 
If your child is ill with a cold, this can be associated with wheezing. If the sound is from the upper airway, stridor is another possibility. Having a recording of the sound for your PCP or HT appointment would be useful.

Yes: Salbutamol is a bronchodilator that is used to relieve spasm in the muscle of the airways. I do not like the syrup because i always find it is better to directly deliver the medication to the airways via the nebulizer. Of course, there are many 2 month olds who wheeze for other reasons bedside airway spasm. If there is no improvement with the meds, other diagnoses should be investigated by the doc.

my baby is 12 days old and when he drinks from bottle he makes a wheezing sound. his breathing is fine otherwise. is this normal?

Accepted Answer

Most likely: Babies can make odd sounds while drinking if there are secretions on the nose or throat. Try clearing the nose with a bulb syringe before feeding. If baby breathes fine otherwise.  If baby has a actual trouble feeding or the problem gets worse, see your pediatrician to evaluate.
