i had a fna on thyroid, 1 nodule came back normal but the other 1 is lying too deeply & next to an artery, so could not get biopsy. what will happen ?

Watch both: do  not remove or try to biopsy second nodule but repeat CAT scans to assure 2nd lesion not growing.  Most of the cases of 2 nodules result in appearance of a 3rd or 4th nodule as part of multi nodular goiter.  If dramatic increase in size such a 2x in the next 4-6 months would consider open bx or excision and then treat accordingly.

Unlikely: I found 1 case report of a 93 yo m with a 1.4cm thyroid nodule adjacent to the carotid that displaced it but did not compress it, leading to TIA symptoms. I would venture to say that occlusion would be impossible as a nodule can't weigh or exert nearly enough pressure on the carotid. (fyi, if you look up this case study, the actual report contradicts the title claiming compression of the carotid.).

i have a malignant thyroid nodule (papillary) right next to my carotid artery. what risks are there?

Minimal: The thyroid gland lives near the jugular vein and carotid artery but those are rarely at risk.  Generally total thyroidectomy with I-131 is curative most of the time.  The most common risks are to the voice box nerves and calcium glands next to the thyroid.  Long term surveillance is appropriate.

my fam dr is away so i saw another doctor in regards to nodule in neck.this dr suggested i get a ultrasound & thyroid blood work since my sister has thyroid disease.is it possible for thyroid just to be swollen& i don't have thyroid issue or cancer?

hard nodule in neck. 2 mri's w/contrast an ultrasound, and labs performed. 2 ent mds say it's not cancer, it's a bifurcation of my carotid. can i trust this? it's painful and round in shape. non movable?

: Be careful about pushing on carotid as it can affect your heart beat and BP. I would trust those who know you rather than those wo do not.

further to post re pulsatile tinitus. ct brain/cerviacal spine results said carotid arteries in neck much better than should be for age 63. no high b/p zero calcium heart ct no meds required. if move neck to left when lying in bed seems to trigger it?

: Thats better information. It is possible that your carotid artery or branches are getting kinked when you turn your head that way. The sound might have a whoosh at the end of the beat.   I assume some one listened to your neck/head and moved your head to the triggering position. Vessels get stiffer  as we age.

Great that you CT CA scan shows none.  Not likely to have heart attack-ever.

Are you on coumadin (warfarin)?: If you are on coumadin (warfarin), (warfarin) then you need to make sure that you watch out your diet and being consistent with your diet  -especially for food that contains high amount of vitamin k- like vegetables etc. Your doctor should be able to guide you regarding diet selection if you are on coumadin (warfarin). If you are on xarelto-  well balanced food- that is low in fat-low salt diet would be good.

hi doctors, i would like to know from angiologists and doctors who have done vein/artery surgery, what happens if i get a hard pinch on a vein in my neck/artery? what kind of trauma is it and what consequences can it have? type thrombosis?, aneurysms?

: It is hard to get a pinch on the main arteries or veins of the neck for they are deep inside. if the ones pinched are on the outside they recover over weeks and cause no problems.
