a condyle from my jaw is loose. when i move my face the left side of jaw moves against facial bones, causing scraping, while right is stable and moves with head. doctors say no fractures. is this considered tmd or something else?

Oral surgeon mayhelp: Needs 3D image to diagnose. Looks like result of some injury/ unwanted gliding movement for chewy/ sticky food. Facial splint and physiotherapy with facial exercises/ hot &amp; cold fomentation/ temporal massage may help.Scraping on one side and normal movement on one side may be pointing at dislocation (as fracture is ruled out by other Dr) Please see oral surgeon. Antiinflammatory medicines mayhelp.

i suffered facial trauma from an assault.it has been a month.doctors took xrays and ct scan and say no fractures.however, i feel like my jaw opens wider from one side than the other.i also notice some facial deformity.can this improve or permanent?

See your Dentist!: Your Temporomandibular joints and/or your mandible may have been injured!   See your Dentist for the proper radiographs and a temporomandibular evaluation in order to arrive at a proper diagnosis and treatment plan of your problem.

why is it that tmj on left side of jaw always rubs against cheek tissue and left side does not when i open mouth? this is after assault on chin. no fractures but tmj feels cracked. maxillofacial doctor sends me home and pt and night guard is done?

: Suggest you seek clarification from an oral surgeon who could provide a second opinion.  This could also provide perspective on the current recommendations.

can the head break from the neck? like the skull fracture from the spine?is that checked by a ct scan?my jaw was hit upwards and hit the top of skull hard. doctors so far say no fractures.my speech is badly affected. i get nightguard soon.whats wrong?

Likely TMJ: From what you say, sounds like you injured your jaw, and this has affected your articulation.  The night guard will help but it takes time.  Good to hear about absence of fractures, as some broken necks are devastating.  Be patient, give it time, and ask your doctors for answers to your concerns.

my jaw feels very deformed after an assault. maxillofacial doctor says no fracture. i bought night guard but left tmj and chin feel cracked at left tmj and jaw angle. my speech is off, face muscles pull bones wrong. no improvement after 6 months?

: It can be helpful to follow up with maxillofacial surgeon again. Generally imaging is very useful to make sure there is no fracture. Speech therapy can be helpful if needed.

i went to er to have my jaw checked. the doctor ordered a ct scan and said the ct showed no fracture or dislocation. when i got home, noticed that the upper teeth are still back further than the lower

More info needed...: Without actually examining you and seeing your bite, it would be hard to determine exactly what is amiss. I suggest you see an oral surgeon for an evaluation.

Elbow fractures: Well, it depends on if they (the doc) see a lot people who slip and fall or suffer some other form of trauma that may affect the elbow. Orthopedic surgeons, sports medicine and occupational medicine docs surely get their fill of them!  =).

Ask for help: While health insurance is expensive, you should not compromise your health.  The hospital where you were seen may have assistance programs or you may qualify for government insurance.  They should have counselors who can help you.  
If you don't qualify, you need to take care of your health and that might mean having to borrow money or make payment arrangements with the orthopedist.  Talk to them.

It depends: From your description of your accident and injury, it's sounds like you had a radial head resection and some other forms of internal fixation. Orthopedic plates, screws, rods, wires and pins are commonly used surgically. They can typically be left inside your body without harm, but may require removal if they become noticeable or symptomatic. Presence of metal internally is not a problem.

can a radial head fracture occur with a fall on a bent elbow with minimal pain and some bruising  should i go to the doctors if it is, casting right?

Questions.: Something to consider. Does the injury bother you? Does tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen treat the discomfort? If you are not satisfied with the answers you come up with you can visit an urgent care center to rule out a radial head fracture. Treatment most often is a simple cast or brace.
