Maybe: There are many tumors that can grow larger as well as things like ganglions etc.  You need a consult with a dermatologist, a surgeon, or an onchologist.

i am prone to lipoma. i seem to have clusters of them. today when k was putting lotion on my upper arm i found a small hard lump that hurts. theres another one on my hip. ive had a cbc and platelet-counts are fine. im worried though. should i be?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see a doctor as the lump may need to be removed and tissue examined by a pathologist for a proper diagnosis. Wish you good health!

hard palpable lump next to elbow.  had ultrasound today 4.8cm wide, 1.38 cm deep.  sonographer said it wasn't bursitis or lipoma?

Needs assesment: If it isn't the two common conditions listed above - and a good sonographer should be able to tell - then a solid lesion of that size should definitely be seen by a general or orthopedic surgeon and undergo a core needle biopsy prior to surgery. It could represent a sarcoma or other tumor. If you had previous injury to that area it may be a hematoma, but that can usually be diagnosed on us.

NOT dangerous: A lipoma is a benign 'fatty tumor' under the skin and they are very common. The condition 'tends to run in families'.  'to get rid' of a lipoma a surgery has to be scheduled and can usually be done in the office (i removed one last week from a gentleman's forearm).  The indications (reasons) for lipoma removal are: pain or 1 that is growing rapidly.

large lump at the top of my arm, with intermittent shooting pain through my elbow and wrist.  can a lipoma cause pain or is this something more?

Unlikely: Lipomas are usually painless, not all masses are lipomas, you might have a neurofibroma etc, need to have it removed.

Doc, check it again: Shooting pain down the arm is the focus of what needs to be evaluated.  It may relate to the lipoma. A lipoma, collections of fatty tissue under the skin, may occur in multiple areas of skin. If it changes size, or quality or becomes tender, it should be removed, because there may be a cancerous change in some cells. Shoot pain down arm and lipoma may be distinct problems, have both checked out.

Lump dilemma: Lump inside the elbow which is painful can have several causes starting from lymph node, lipoma, cystic mass and the list goes on if we look at the given info; pain, sudden onset favor tendinitis with fluid collection  from a strenous exercise more detailed history and skilful exam can clarify the matter.Sarcoma is very unlikely with this history ultrasound of the mass can provide helpful info.
