Large lump at the top of my arm, with intermittent shooting pain through my elbow and wrist. can a lipoma cause pain or is this something more?

Unlikely: Lipomas are usually painless, not all masses are lipomas, you might have a neurofibroma etc, need to have it removed.

Nerve compression: The shooting pain through your elbow and wrist could be related to a compressed nerve. Ok to check with your doc for an exam and opinion about that lump and whether it is causative.
