i currently have thrush on my tongue and the root of my. can i scrap the thrush away?

Accepted Answer

No: If you truly have thrush, it won't go away just by wiping it off.  We usually use topical treatments like Nystatin or Clotrimazole losenges.  Sometimes we use a pill call fluconazole.  It depends on why you have thrush, and how extensive it is.  See your primary care doctor or ent. If you use a steroid inhaler, be sure to rinse your mouth afterwards. Yogurt or probiotics can help prevent thrush.

my son says the bottom of his tongue were it attaches to the root has been tingling for the last four days...any ideas what's wrong.its labeled number?

Examine it: There are several possibilities and the should be checked by a doctor. The simplest is a foreinn object stuck under the tongus. Also clogging of the salivary duct. I would see a physician should this still be happening

3wks ago, root canal, dr said no infectn was present. had perm crown placed. still having pressure-pain, feels achey when touched by tongue. advice?

Not normal: Not normal. See Doc that did root canal for assessment. Not all root canals work. If not done by endodontist, consider endodontist opinion.

i have osa (use cpap) & wake up with horrible pain in my top front teeth from tongue pushing hard against them all night. can this cause root damage?

Accepted Answer

Needs to be checked: Pain in the teeth may have many causes. The tongue itself can not damage the teeth but this may be a sign of teeth grinding (bruxism) which is quite common in apneic  patients. There also may be an issue with how your CPAP mask is fitting. You should talk to a dentist, preferably one with experience treating sleep apnea patients.

i was just yawning, and i noticed a red spot on the root of my mouth, under my tongue. what could that be?

Sevreral things: It could be a normal anatomic structure that you just never noticed before.  It could also be a spot that was traumatized or abraided by some food (taco chip?), or could be a sore.  If it persists, or if you are concerned, make an appointment with your dentist.  He/she will know what is normal, and can advise you.

i have a wiggly molar due to tongue thrashing and bad root canal job done. it is creating a gap in my two front teeth. i had the root canal done in 2008. what should i do?

2 Different: It sounds like two different issues come into play here. Your tongue thrusting habit plays the biggest role in the front teeth space. The only way to reverse this is to get braces and subsequent physical therapy to learn a new way of swallowing. Second, go have your wiggly molar checked out, it may simply be the cement holding your crown in.  These two things are not interrelated imo.

Hard to understand: If your tongue tingled during the root canal procedure, than that could have been from the anesthesia. You have too many specialties listed and for that reason hard to answer your question completely.

See your dentist: See your dentist to rule out any involvement with your tooth.  An antibiotic may be needed or if you have an antibiotic given, it may need to be changed.  There may  also be the  possibility that  you are sick and this has nothing to do with your tooth.

how long until no pain in entire area and mouth after root canal?

Few days....: There generally is pain after the local anesthetic wears off; the dentist should explain and warn about that depending how invasive the procedure is, whether he had to clear out infection, or abscess at the root.  He should also give you a script for pain medication appropriate to the procedure, and appropriate to his knowledge of your pain threshold and ability to handle pain. Call, get advice.

Probably not: Dry mouth is not a common side effect from maca root.
