Useful combination: Ask your doctor if there is no medical or presence any other psychiatric disorder contraindicating starting a serotonergic medication (Sertraline, Fluoxetine, Citalopram or other) in combination with Mirtazepine and Prazosin.
Mirtazepine will help you with sleep and Prazosin works well for nightmares.
It is important to get an accurate diagnosis of your condition, though.

: It is better to invest in stress management training with a life coach/therapist than to rely on the transient effect of drugs. The former can help for a lifetime, the latter until you run out. If I listen to a patient often enough, I will likely eventually hear a benign murmur. If it didn't require treatment, it is not worth worrying about.

Depends: It's a matter of opinion. Sometimes just getting a checkup and being reassured that you are fine is helpful. Then there are medications for anxiety. If you tend to hyperventilate, then it is sometimes helpful to breathe into a paper bag. My preference is hypnosis however since it is one of the things I use and I have seen it to be very successful.

Combination therapy: You may need 2 medications. Think about ssris like Lexapro or zoloft for the big picture of generalized anxiety. Therapy is sometimes augmented with medication and is quite successful.

Benzodiazepines are sometimes utilized initially to stabilize symptoms ("chill pills") but best not chronically.  A number of antidepressants approved for acute or chronic  use.

Panic attacks: Find a quiet place. Breath in slowly &amp; deeply through your nostrils. Fill your lungs with air (but not to the point of discomfort).  Hold for a count of five then slowly begin to exhale through an open mouth. Repeat at least 12 times, longer if you need to. If you haven't been assessed for your panic/ anxiety - that would be prudent. Take care. Panic attacks usually peak w/i 10 minutes.
