Depends on the site : Some tooth infections that require root canal treatment may respond favorably to amoxicillin.
Various gum line infections may respond to tetracycline derivatives.
But antibiotics do not treat the cause of the infection, you must see your dentist who will diagnose your problem and perform the appropriate treatment.
Plus you must not be allergic to the medication.

Augmetin is perfect: Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is my preferred antibiotic. Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is a synthetic penicillin and the better choice. Clindamycin is also an excellent choice.

Assuming you: Are not allergic to the penicillin family of antibiotics, you should have little concern with the prescribed medication, even w pregnancy. Check with your ob, but i'm sure it's probably ok.

Needs more time: It will take a few days for this to improve; no antibiotic works in only 12 hours. No STI causes tooth infections or pain. If you have other symptoms like penile discharge, painful urination, or genital sores or bumps, or if at risk for STI, get checked. But not because of the dental problem. Check back with the dentist if the tooth problem continues.

Hard to say...: Is this infection due to a periodontal problem or a non-vital tooth that required root canal therapy? What treatment was performed? Without the answers to these questions one cannot give you any meaningful advice other than to get a second opinion from another local dentist who can examine you and ask you these questions.

: A chromium cobalt frame will provide rigidity and if properly designed will not cause aberrant forces of your abutment teeth. A flexite denture distorts when you bite and the forces on your remaining teeth are unpredictable, often causing premature loss of those teeth. If your budget allows, consider root replacements (implants) to restore your mouth to proper form and function.

Azithromycin: A "Z-pak" or generic azithromycin is a favorite replacement for pcn in many cases. Clindamycin is a more heavy hitter if needed. Consult your Oral Surgeon for best in your specific circumstance. Good Luck.

Daily: If you are having an upset stomach or diarrhea from taking your antibiotics you can try eating a 'live culture containing' yogurt with each dose of medicine.  In addition, you should try a daily dose of probiotic. Most of my patients find the liquid form works better than the pills. If your diarrhea persists you need to call your doctor.

No: The standard of care for tooth infection is penicillin
however with patient that are allergic to penicillin and sulfa and clindamycin
levaquin can be an alternative option.
