Irritated about tooth infection that has not gone away with treatment. what are the best ways to treat this?

Hard to say...: Is this infection due to a periodontal problem or a non-vital tooth that required root canal therapy? What treatment was performed? Without the answers to these questions one cannot give you any meaningful advice other than to get a second opinion from another local dentist who can examine you and ask you these questions.
