It wanders: Distractibility and inattention are core features of attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (adhd).  The distractibility can look like someone has a "short attention span, " but really is due to many things the environment grabbing the person's attention and their inability to maintain their focus on one thing.  Thus their attention jumps from one thing to another often.

Yes: Depression, anxiety, sleep apnea, head trauma, vitamin deficiency all can impair concentration and attention.

Short attention span: What was the question again? Just kidding. It can be from a variety of things. I would suggest a good psychological evaluation that can evaluate for such conditions as adhd in conjunction with a good psychiatric consultation who can discuss treatment options.

Basics: A person performs at their best when they get adequate restorative sleep, have no illness, are properly nourished &amp; in a comfortable setting. I am leery of ever accepting an ADHD diagnosis for an adult that did not have it as a kid but it can happen. You start the process by seeing your doc &amp; ruling out/treating all the listed issues. Only then can you/they consider ADHD.

Practice: All of us get distracted easily. Focusing takes practice, and it's not easy for anyone no matter what they say. Try focusing on a long term goal and then keeping disciplined in taking the steps to reach that goal. With each successive step, your confidence will grow stronger and your focus will also. Give it a try and see if that gives you some perspective on it.

Please get an: Exam from your doc.  There are many possible causes for the fatigue and memory difficulties you mention.  Among them is lack of sleep, low iron, poor diet, lack of exercise, lifestyle imbalance or something more.  Your doc can help.  Peace and good health.

Earache: Perhaps you have an earache. Visit a Doctor for an otoscope exam of the ear. It is common to get lightheaded when you have middle ear infection. This would also account for the decreased hearing in the ear.
The concentration and attention span is a focus problem . Another entity all to itself.
