Diet and ADHD: There is no "special" diet for kids with add/adhd. They should eat an all-around healthy diet just like any other kid. There are a lot of old wives tales out there about sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, various food colorings/dyes - none of these elimination diets have been found to do anything in particular for kids with adhd. They should drink plenty of water, high fiber, refrain form caffeine.

Paleolithic: If  health conscious, he may like the paleolithic diet (see thepaleodiet.Com) avoiding processed foods and sugar. This is good for everyone. Other components are more controversial but I have found very helpful in practice. You will usually not be successful in getting a reluctant family member to change eating habits unless you 1)  eat the diet you recommend 2) stop buying the processed foods.

Natural whole food: Most babies are on table food by 12 months and take 3meals plus a couple of snacks and milk 2-3 times a day.  The best diet for a baby is food that "looks like it did when it came out of the ground, " in other words, as natural and unprocessed as possible.  Meats, cheese and unsweetened yogurt are also good.

Stress weakens you: Your main problem is stress-- these germs are having a field day at your expense. When under stress the body is weaker, as you've proved to yourself here over and over again. I highly recommend u do everything to change this. Quit your job, meditate, pray, exercise, get sunlight... Do something!  Not to scare u, but bigger problems can arise later if u go on living like this...

What is BMI: More important than just her weight is her bmi, which also takes into account her sex and height based on her age. Quite honestly, a weight of 50# does not seem ecessive to me, but i would have to know her height as well. She is likely starting her pubertal growth spurt, and the weight gain may be totally appropriate.  There are several good sites online to check bmi's for kids - check that first!
